Embark on an epic quest across the Drairthir Peninsula – a land ravaged by warring factions of Dragons. With VII, I have to accept a few bugs, but I can easily live with them, even if I have to play a few maps over.A classic strategy RPG-inspired adventure with a roguelite twist. IV is in fact one of my favs, VI is very special and beautiful in its own way ( would have done better if claimed to be a spin-off from, I guess ), and VII really kept the HoMM spirit and story close to the originals.

My first HoMM was II as well, and I was hooked I love all of them.

Also unlike alot of people out there I just want to say I love ALL the HOMM series including the UBIsoft ones which come in for alot of criticism. Songs of Conquest a pixel HOMM III looking variation, Sefirot Shards a mix of HOMM with cards in play also, and Fanstratics which will be the most similar to HOMM being developed by a developer who actually worked on HOMM III but will be a longer wait for this one as much earlier in development but the other two all due out in 2022 along with Dragoness so I will be in post HOMM heaven.
